Judo is practised by millions of people throughout the world, as an exciting recreation, a way of keeping fit or a competitive sport. It derives from the ancient martial art of Jiujutsu, which originated centuries ago in feudal Japan. The principles and rules of modern Judo were set down in 1882, and Judo was introduced into the Olympic Games in 1964. "The principle of Judo, from the very beginning, is not one of aggression, but of flowing with things." Carl B. Becker, Kyoto University, Japan Find out more, follow these links: |
